| I create still life oil paintings that capture the intimacy of everyday moments. This work reflects my obsession with dining scenes, oysters, lemon, bread, and wine, items that hold both simplicity and celebration. Meals are never just about food, they carry memory, connection, and the shared experience of being together. I paint these subjects to preserve those fleeting feelings of joy, so they can be savoured again through art. I work primarily in oils because they allow me to build depth, softness, and atmosphere. My process begins with arranging objects in different source of light, paying attention to how shadows, reflections, and colour shifts create mood. In this painting, the contrast of food against the dark table brings out a sense of warmth and presence, as though the viewer has just sat down at the table. By focusing on detail and composition, I aim to capture not only what is seen but also what is felt in the moment. Through these still lifes, I am exploring the idea of food as memory and ritual. A dining table becomes a stage where stories unfold , laughter, intimacy, and connection. By painting these moments, I want to slow down time and honour the beauty in what we often take for granted. My intention is to create works that invite viewers to pause, reflect, and reconnect with their own experiences of gathering and sharing. |
